Amazing!!

Buying a car can be a stressful experience, but luckily I had an amazing time looking at my dream car that I have wanted since I was 8 years old. Zachary Klabunde made it his priority to make sure I got what I wanted and at the right price. Then once we got the car taken care of, I was sent to Dwayne Hill to help me take care of the financial side. He made sure I understood everything and walked me through it step by step. I just want to say, everyone was very nice and great to work with, the experience was seamless, and I love my car. Justine was delightful and went above and beyond driving my old car home for me, and Dwayne was super friendly and great at explaining details. However, two big complaints: First, NO MASKS? Dwayne wore one and even offered to wear a shield or put up plexiglass if we preferred (awesome), but I saw no one else on sales floor wearing one. Given the current recommendations from the CDC and our local public health experts, this is unacceptable. Any of your sales people could be an asymptomatic COVID carrier and unknowingly passing this disease along to a customer. It is impossible to be 6 feet away from a car salesperson, either at a desk or during a test drive, so masks should be mandatory. Period. My parents recently bought a car from the Toyota dealership in Iowa City and said everyone was masked there. If you are a good sales person, wearing a mask will not make it harder for you to sell a car. Instead, the lack of masks made me feel uncomfortable the entire time I was there. And, my second complaint: When I reviewed the numbers with Justine and accepted the terms and went back to meet with Dwayne, they'd changed A LOT -- he'd printed everything with an extended warranty added, and very quickly glossed over the substantial amount of money I'd be paying over the term of the loan for this extra coverage. Instead, he breezed through saying it would be just $15 a month; I paused him for a second and tried to do the math on how much that would be overall, and instead of OFFERING that total for me, he just hurried the conversation along. This felt like a bait and switch. I have no problem being offered a warranty (I kept it!) -- but it should be an honest up-front offer, not a sneaky opt-out, and it should be explained thoroughly and clearly, with all numbers visible from the start. This was a bait and switch, and it left me with a squeamish feeling, like I'd been duped. Not cool, especially since I liked him very much and appreciated how clearly he answered other questions I asked. None of this would stop me from recommending Lithia, but both are things I woudl definitely tell someone about, before I recommended you.

The manager -Moyata that helped us was shady and tried to hide some numbers and was dishonest. He said he would payoff my lease at Nissan totaling to $1533.32 and when asked if it was added on to financing he said no but when I crunched the numbers he did add back that amount. He also said he would take off an additional $500 from our purchase price of $46,000 if we took the vehicle from the lot instead of the one I wanted but never did. We did get our military discount of $500 and I love the Atlas I purchased but probably will go to another VW dealer instead of this one in the future.

Justine was so nice to work with. I let someone borrow my vehicle and I didn't want to miss out on a deal. She picked me up at work and drove me to the car lot. She made everything so simple! I test drove the vehicle, secured financing and signed all of the appropriate forms all under 2 hours. before I left she put gas in the tank and wash the vehicle for me. Finance got me out of there in with a lower payment that I expected. I had questions after the sale the next day and she was easy to get ahold of and answered all of my questions. I would definitely shop Lithia Volkswagen of Des Moines and ask for Justine again!

Professional Staff and Friendly Environment

Lithia has a knowledgable staff that put forth extra effort in finding the vehicle I was looking for. Lithia was flexible with negotiating to better fit my budget. The vehicle I purchased was washed and fueled upon pick up. Unfortunately, there was a rock chip near the rear driver side wheel that occurred during vehicle delivery to the dealership. Lithia worked hard to resolve the issue while additionally offering assistance in the future if the chip were to worsen. Overall experience with Lithia was great and would recommend this dealership to others needing assistance with their car purchasing needs.

I grew up in the small town of Perry, IA until I moved to Johnston to attend highschool where I graduated. At 21, I moved out to Humboldt California where I spent the last 10 years and started working for Lithia. I wanted to move home so I transferred Lithia stores and now I am working here! I am excited to be home and selling Volkswagen. In my spare time I like to go disc golfing with my dog and friends, I like cooking good food, and I like to go see live music anytime I can. Those are all big reasons I am glad to be home because Des Moines has tons of opportunity to do all of those things. I really like selling Volkswagen cars because I not only get to meet and get to know a lot of different great people, but I also get to find them the car that fits their lifestyle and needs perfectly. Honestly Care About Me As A Person!

Stopped in for an oil change. What struck me is how clean everything is, and how well organized the are with their traffic flow, i.e. a first time customer does not have to wonder where to go next. I did not have an appointment, they were busy, but I was treated as if I was their most important customer, and the oil change, with their green-yellow-red inspection sheet, was completed faster than I am used to having had at other dealerships. I bought my car from them last March, what has impressed me is that in all of my interactions with this dealership I have been aware of the feeling that they honestly want me to have a good experience, and a safe driving situation. I have always felt respected and appreciated, which is something that most people do not experience when dealing with Car service or purchases.

Andrew Ruiz is fantastic to work with!!

My college-bound son and I purchased a used VW Jetta and Andrew was our salesman. He was excellent! I appreciated the manner in which he dealt with my son -- and me. Andrew was also extremely knowledgeable regarding the Jetta and other cars on the lot. He went to bat for us with the price we wanted to pay and we were able to secure that price!! After the sale, Andrew was great with following up to ensure we were happy with the car. We will definitely seek out Andrew again when my husband and I are ready to purchase! Our interactions with Dwanye and Lamont were not as involved as with Andrew, and both gentlemen were professional! We did have minor glitches with the service department, but were they quickly and professionally resolved by Matt Johnson. He made it right. We will definitely shop at Lithia Motors again!

Very pleased with Bug.

Very nice and no pushing to buy a car. We were driving home from our hair appt. and then out of blue I said to Julie ,"Let's go see what Lithia has" not even thinking about buying a car. We drove thru your lot. Julie saw the black bug, and I still didn't think much about it. Brian was right there to help us when we walked inside. We got to talking about it and Brian said it had 8,000 miles for around $16,000. We couldn't believe it. So I said, "We'll take it." Never bought anything in my life that quick, especially a car. We came home with a black car and Bud said something about where our red car was. It tickled us. Anyway, we love it and love going into your place of business, as everyone is so nice.

Completely different experience when I wasn’t getting a new lease. I bought out my 2017 Passat. Another thing that ticked me off, I was preapproved for a loan through Green State CR. Lithia ran another credit report and an application. Not happy at all.

Terrible Sales, Terrible Service, Terrible Dealer!

Absolutely terrible all around. Took our Jetta in while it was under warranty to have an A/C problem fixed. They "attempted" to diagnose the problem multiple times and were never able to fix it. When I went to pick up my car on their last attempt to fix, they couldn't find where they had left it. Eventually they found it in the back lot where it was left running, ran out of gas and the battery died. So I had to go back the next day to pick up the car after they recharged the battery and "refueled" it. They put enough gas in it so I could get across the street to the gas station to fill it up myself. I now drive 2 hours to a different dealer for warranty service. We also attempted to buy a new Atlas at this dealer. The salesman was pushy and did not listen to anything I said regarding what I wanted and what I was willing to send. Eventually I walked out and bought a new Atlas at a VW dealer in Davenport.

Bought a used GMC Yukon couldn’t test drive because of...

Bought a used GMC Yukon couldn’t test drive because of flat tire. Got quoted a price on true car.com they said it was a typo of $3000. Looked nice on the outside but 80 miles into it engine light came on the salesman on up to management didn’t want to stand buy their sale. They finally told me to tow it in which would cost $378. I had a local mechanic look at it and change the oil pressure sensor then happened again will have him look at it again more detail. Think they sold me a lemon some of this is my fault but I feel they don’t stand behind their sales and kind of do a bait and switch too 1 star I feel is to much.
